Alcon’s MARLO app was already helping doctors and patients, but the experience needed some polish: smoother workflows, better accessibility, and a friendlier feel across iOS and Android. My dream? Take a complex, regulation-heavy healthcare tool and make it feel as intuitive as checking the weather on your phone.

I mapped out real-life journeys with more than 30 doctors and staff, then turned their needs into wireframes, prototypes, and designs that reduced steps and cleared up confusing flows. Along the way, I helped launch the Smart Cataract Planner (a planning tool that’s as cool as it sounds) and gave MARLO a clean, consistent design foundation.

The redesign made MARLO easier and more enjoyable to use. Doctors could get things done faster, patients could understand their options better, and accessibility improvements meant everyone could navigate the app without frustration. Adoption and satisfaction grew, proof that even medical software can spark a smile.

In an effort to keep MARLO healthy long-term, I built and documented two scalable design systems (Unity + ADI). They acted like a recipe book for future updates, making sure every new feature felt consistent, compliant, and polished, without starting from scratch each time.
